A simple exercise in gratefulness

Omg! It's a double rainbow! But what does it mean?! I don't know, but I feel grateful

Today I will share a very simple exercise in gratefulness that might radically increase your happiness on a long term basis. The exercise is simply to to list three things that you are grateful for on a daily basis.

I was reminded today about this simple little habit that I find great, but I always seem to forget when life is a bit stressful. The habit is to simply write down three things that you are grateful for.

I often use the iPhone app Five minute journal to do this, but my routine has been quite flakey. Especially when I need it the most.

Now that I have set a goal to write a blog post every day for the upcoming six months in combination with trying to be as transparent that I can with the journey of starting a company, why not do it here in the captain’s log?

Yes indeed. Why not?

So at the end of each post I am going to listt three things that I am grateful for. Sometimes I might also add a note about what I learned today or what surprised me the most.

Have a fantastic weekend!

  1. Things that I am very grateful for today:
Ida. My wonderful partner in life (and in crime). She is also on the Unicornsulting board of directors and have the title “Head of Total Reward”. Without Ida, there would be no Unicornsulting.
  2. A very nice lunch with a dear friend.
  3. A great discussion and opportunity to help a very experienced innovation leader and a great person that I hold in very high regard whom also happened to remind me of the benefit of listing three things that you are grateful for on a daily basis.

What I learned today: Everyone at the people at the office had different preferences regarding ration between coffee and water when making coffee. Everyone seemed slightly surprised about this fact.
