Analog Transformation

Is this the mudra of a three week old bohisattva?

The day after my last post, the second greatest event of my life occurred. I feel so grateful and I don’t know where to begin. This is truly a transformation of the more analog kind.

After my last post about novelty and innovation, I was planning on continuing writing some stuff about innovation, but my mind is somewhere completely else right now.

I’ve been fortunate to have experienced quite a few transformational events throughout my life. Some have been painful and others have been very joyful. A couple of years ago I even namned my solo music project “Karl MkIV” indicating that I’ve been through three major transformations in my life. That was five years ago and today I would consider myself a mark eight.

So, what is this transformative event that dwarfs experiencing Burning man, study and practice for the Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu grandmaster in Japan, starting my own company after twenty years as employee, two marriages, meeting my wonderful partner in life and even the death of my mother? Besides being born this is the most magical thing that ever has happened to me

You might have guessed it already, but a little bit more than three weeks ago our little baby was born into the world. I know that it is one of the most natural things in the world, but I am stunned by it.

In case you wonder why I haven’t been giving this blog so much TLC lately, this might explain why.

I am excited to see where my new incarnation will take me. But not right now, I’m all consumed by watching every single little move our little baby makes  =).

It feels like I am in the middle of an analog transformation. Priorities has shifted and I feel super-excited. It makes me feel that it is even more important striving for a better world. I am looking forward to finding out how that is going to manifest itself. I am sure it will.

Three things that I am grateful for today:

  1. Our wonderful, little baby
  2. See (1).
  3. See (2)

  • Congratulations! Having three kids myself, I know exactly what you write about. I got a strange and clear feeling when our first daughter was born that “this is really what life is about. This is the purpose!”

Once again – congratulations! Take many photos, they grow unbelievably fast!

    • Thank you Johan!

      It is a wonderful feeling.
Thank you. The camera app on the phone is running hot =D

I can’t express how excited I am for you and wish you all the best, here’s my unsolicited advice: Brace for the paradoxes! Aside from an obviously expected and utterly surprising change in life perspective that comes with this transformation, I found my second strong observation was that of the behavior of and passage of time changed after the arrival of my first born. Time stands still and time speeds up without logic, try to stop and enjoy the moments when you can.

    • Thank you for the very wise advice, Cap’n.

My perception of time has definitely shifted. It feels like I am in a completely new time zone that doesn’t follow and logic what so ever.

Say hi from me to your family.
